Howie has many characteristics that make him a desirable sire. He is an intelligent, very trainable dog who loves to retrieve. He has lots of drive, a great water entry, and will go through or over any obstacle to get a bird. He also has a pedigree that has produced a host of extraordinary field dogs. At the same time he is a loving and gentle dog who is great with kids and who will do anything to please his people. He is also a tremendous hunting dog, steady and manageable at all times. Howie has captured the heart of anyone that has met him.

Due to non genetic medical reasons, Howie is now retired and arrangements for breedings to desirable bitches can be made at any time. If you are interested in breeding to Howie please try to contact me as far in advance as possible so that schedules which work for both parties can be arranged.

I would like the following before a bitch is sent for breeding: A 3 generation pedigree, a copy of the OFA or OVC certificate and CERF, and a negative Brucellosis test (dated within 10 days of breeding), as well as a summary of the bitch's background and accomplishments.

NATURAL BREEDINGS. Bitches can be dropped off at our house or else flown in to the airport in Tampa once arrangements have been made. You will be responsible for arranging travel plans and costs for your bitch. Airport pickup and delivery charges will apply.

Ideally, progesterone testing should be done before shipping to determine the optimal time for breeding your bitch. If that is not done, bitches should be scheduled to arrive at our house by the 8th or 9th day of their heat cycle (day 1 is first day of blood) unless you feel differently. If you wish, vaginal smears and progesterone testing can be done by our vet to determine the optimal time for breeding - otherwise the bitch will be bred when she first stands and 36 hours later.

A $100 non-refundable service fee is required prior to breeding. The balance of the stud fee is due upon whelp and prior to signing the litter registration. Vet, transport, and boarding fees are owing when the bitch is picked up or before she is shipped home.

FROZEN & CHILLED SEMEN BREEDINGS. If you are unable to ship or drive your bitch, frozen semen can be shipped to a qualified reproductive vet in your area for insemination. When using frozen semen it is particularly critical that insemination occurs at the proper time. Your bitch should be taken to your vet early in her heat cycle for evaluation and to determine the optimum time for insemination. Ovulation testing will provide 2 to 5 days notice so that frozen semen can be shipped in time for insemination. We have a limited amount of frozen semen available, so please let us know if you are considering this option. (NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2005). Phone to arrange chilled semen breedings. All costs associated with chilled semen will be the responsibility of the bitch's owner.

Semen and shipping fees are required prior to shipping the semen. The stud fee is due upon whelp when the litter registration papers are signed.
